Ratul Puri, the son-in-law of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath reportedly fled from the Enforcement Directorate office on Friday (26 July) ahead of being questioned in connection with the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam, Press Trust of India has reported.

Puri was to be confronted a piece of evidence in the matter sought permission to go to the washroom soon after reaching the ED office. He though never returned back and was believed to have left the premises. Officials later tried calling him but his phone was switched off.

It was earlier claimed that Puri had given authorities the slip while questioning, which was later dismissed by the ED officials.

Puri in his defence has claimed that he is cooperating in the probe and was given protection from arrest till today (29 July) by a Delhi court.
