Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the United States’ space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will jointly inspect the findings and excavation tasks being carried out at an archaeological site in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, which is said to have artefacts older than the Harappan Civilisation.

The site, located in Kunal village, from where the artefacts were discovered is being tagged the oldest civilisation in the world.

The NASA-ISRO joint inspection may be undertaken in October this year. As quoted by the Economic Times, Haryana Archaeology and Museums Minister Ram Bilas Sharma told IANS, “The recovery of artefacts, estimated to be 6,000 years old, strongly indicated that the civilisation that had flourished in Kunal was in fact the oldest civilisation in the world. The Harappan Civilisation, considered so far to be the oldest civilisation, flourished about 3,500 years ago”.

The artefacts that include pots, ornaments and spherical structures were found earlier this year, in March, during excavation works to revive the Saraswati river. This was followed by a two-month long excavation project jointly undertaken by the Haryana Archaeology department, Indian Archaeological Society, a private organisation and the National Museum.
