Amid various media reports of social distancing being violated at railway stations in the country, migrant workers returning to their home states from Dehradun Railway station in Uttarakhand presented an example by maintaining discipline as well as social distancing while standing in a queue.
In a video shared on twitter, the migrants can be seen cooperating with the state police and standing in a queue while maintaining social distancing.
The video was shared by a social activist and Aasraa Trust’s Managing Trustee, Neelu Khanna. The trust members distributed food packets to 2,300 migrant workers for their homeward journey. The migrants were reportedly going to Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
In the video, the migrant workers can be seen maintaining proper distancing while entering the Dehradun Railway Station.
Social Media users praised the migrant workers for showing restraint during these tough times.
“The kind of restraint our migrant friends have shown is inspiring,” wrote BJYM National Co-Incharge Neha Joshi on Twitter.
She also lauded the Trust for helping the migrants workers.
“Shout out to Aasraa Trust for providing travel kits for each traveller. Adding Sattu (mixture of ground pulses and cereals) to the travel kits is such a good idea. Kudos to the amazing team,” She added.
Meanwhile, another Twitter user, Deeptangan Pant, lamented the fact that no mainstream media would show such images.
