Watch: Relatives Of Deceased Go On Rampage In Hyderabad’s Global Hospital Premises, Beat Up Police Personnel

Hyderabad Police have registered a case against relatives of a deceased woman patient for ransacking and destroying property at the city's renowned Global Hospital, Telangana Today has reported.
A group of family members went on a rampage after the woman, identified as Shameem Begum (45) of Santoshnagar, who was admitted to the Global Hospital for interstitial lung disease and lung infection and undergoing treatment, died on Monday (24 December) night.
On coming to know about Shameem’s death, her sons, Mir Mohiuddin Ali Khan, Barkat Ali Khan and Mustafa Ali Khan turned violent inside the hospital premise, breaking furniture and beating up the security guards of the hospital. In videos posted on social media, they are also seen indulging in wanton destruction of medical infrastructure in ICU.
Even the police personnel who reached the spot weren’t spared. “On information, our blue colts team and patrol cars rushed to the spot. The Saifabad Inspector Saidi Reddy too rushed to the spot and tried to take the situation under control. The inspector was pushed away and a constable beaten up,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Central), P Vishwa Prasad said.
Hyderabad police registered cases against her three sons Mohiuddin Ali Khan, Mir Barkat Ali Khan, Mir Mustafa Ali Khan and their accomplices including Mohsin under Sections 148, 324,332, 427 and 149 of Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of Telangana Medicare Service and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act 2008.
According to authorities at the Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Shameen Begum was admitted to the hospital on 18 December in a serious health condition. She was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), a general category of lung disease caused by different lung conditions and swine flu.
The hospital authorities added that she was on non-invasive ventilator support from the time of admission and her clinical condition was explained to the relatives twice every day.
On 24 December, when Shameen Begum’s clinical condition deteriorated, doctors duly informed the patient's relatives of the seriousness of her condition. However, holding the hospital responsible for the deterioration in her health, the relatives went on a rampage endangering the medicare unit and putting the lives of other patients in danger. Despite the best efforts of the team of doctors, the patient passed away at around 9.30 pm on Monday (24 December), hospital authorities added.
Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) has condemned the attack on the hospital premises. “The culprits should be punished under the provisions of Violence on Doctors and Medical Establishments, which is the strongest Act across the country,” said Chairman, TJUDA, Dr P S Vijayender.
