A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was found hanging from a tree in Dantan area of West Bengal state's Midnapore district on Friday (15 November), reports Asian News International (ANI).
The victim, identified as Barsha Handa, was a tribal BJP worker and after his death the BJP's state unit has been up in arms against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in the State, led by Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee.
Sharing gruesome pictures of Handa, the state unit of the BJP has accused CM Banerjee's TMC of having murdered him.
Taking to Twitter, the BJP also said, "Barsha Handa, a tribal BJP worker from Paschim Medinipur, was hanged to death by TMC goons. Why are the liberals so silent now on these brutal political murders in TMC ruled West Bengal? Would they be so silent if this was a BJP ruled state?"
Leading the charge against the TMC, the state unit president of the BJP, Dilip Ghosh also said, "I heard he has been brutally killed. Our district president went there. If necessary I will go there."
