Paytm
Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp, which has become a sort of a household name for its messaging service, is set to find competition in another household name today, Paytm.
The digital payments company, which has over 225 million users in India, plans to launch a messaging service by the end of August this year, according to a Reuters report.
The source in the report said users of the new messaging service will be able to send audio, video, pictures and texts, while continuing to use the app to make regular purchases.
Curiously, WhatsApp, which had 200 million monthly active users as of February, also has plans of venturing into the digital payments space.
