Iran-Israel relations are set to witness their most tense phase ever as Israel yesterday (10 May) pounded Iranian military infrastructure in Syria, CNN has reported.
Israel struck the Iranian targets in Syria after some 20 rockets were allegedly fired by the Iranian military towards it from Syria. Israel has claimed that it has destroyed all Iranian military capabilities in Syria through the retaliation.
"Whoever hits us will get hit seven times over. Whoever prepares themselves to attack us will be attacked first. That is what we have done and that is what we will continue doing," Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu said talking about the attack.
Natanyahu also spoke to British PM Theresa May and thanked her for supporting the Israeli right to defend itself.
The Iranian rockets fired towards Israel earlier were intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome aerial defence system. Israel responded with what appeared to be surface-to-surface missiles towards the Iranian facilities in Syria.
Reiterating the Israeli regime’s position, Defence Minister Avigdor Liberman said, "Israel has hit almost all of Iran's infrastructure in Syria. If it will rain in Israel, there will be a biblical flood on the other side."
Responding to the news, the Syrian military claimed that its air defence system managed to intercept most of the Israeli barrage. It has said that three people were killed and two injured in the Israeli bombardment.
