Vikas Dubey after arrest
In a letter written to Madhya Pradesh Police Department, the Uttar Pradesh Police have asked the details of the person who should be given the reward of Rs 5 lakh announced for gangster Vikas Dubey, reports Hindustan Times.
Notably, the UP police had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to get the information on the whereabouts of Dubey, and since he was caught in Ujjain, the UP police have sought to know who should get the reward.
The report quotes Ujjain SP Manoj Kumar Singh as saying, “We have received a letter from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kanpur, who has given the information about the reward announced on Vikas Dubey and wishes to know whose role among the police personnel was to detain Vikas Dubey in Ujjain.”
He added, “I have constituted a team comprising of additional SPs Amrendra Singh, Rupesh Dwivedi and Akash Bhuria who will study the entire episode and submit a report for the reward to me. Based on the report I will send a proposal (to SSP, Kanpur).”
Dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey, accused in over 60 crimes, was on the run for almost a week after the ambush and killing of eight police personnel in Kanpur. He was finally arrested on 9 July from inside the Mahakaal temple in the Madhya Pradesh town of Ujjain. He was killed in a police encounter the next day when he reportedly tried to escape.
