A Muslim cleric in Karnataka’s Vijaypura proclaimed that cows will be slaughtered on Bakrid in Karnataka, a state where the practice is banned.
A minister in the new JD(S)-Congress government, Shivanand Patil was also present when the cleric made the proclamation two days back, as reported by the Indian Express.
In his speech, the cleric, Tanveer Hashmi is seen instructing the minister to take care that no another slaughter other than the cow’s takes place during the Muslim celebration. He was hinting at a BJP MLA whom he claimed will create mischief during Bakrid.
Hashmi is the head of Hashim Pir Dargah at Vijayapura. The speech in Urdu drew huge applause from the gathering even as the Congress minister stayed quiet.
Shivanand Patil, the Congress MLA from Bijapur is the Health and Family Welfare Minister in the new alliance government ruling Karnataka.
