With 18,522 New Cases, India's Covid-19 Tally Crosses 5.66 Lakh Mark; Death Toll Rises To 16,893

With a spike of 18,522 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 566,840, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Tuesday (30 June).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 215,125 are active cases while at least 334,822 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 death toll in the country has increased from Monday's 16,475 to 16,893, an increase of 418 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 169,883 cases, including 7,610 fatalities, and 88,960 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 86,224 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 85,000-mark with as many as 85,161 cases recorded so far, second-highest tally in the country. Gujarat has reported 31,938 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (2,680), Gujarat (1,827), Tamil Nadu (1,141), Uttar Pradesh (672), West Bengal (653), and Madhya Pradesh (564).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (22,828), West Bengal (17,907), Rajasthan (17,660), Telangana (15,394), Karnataka (14,295), Haryana (14,210), Andhra Pradesh (13,891) and Madhya Pradesh (13,370).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Bihar (9,640), Assam (7,752), Jammu and Kashmir (7,237), Odisha (6,859), Punjab (5,418), Kerala (4,189), Uttarakhand (2,831), Chhattisgarh (2,761) and Jharkhand (2,426).

According to the Health Ministry, 7,004 cases are being re-assigned to states.
