With a spike of 37,724 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 1,192,915, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Wednesday (22 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 4,11,133 are active cases while at least 7,53,050 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from previous day's 28,084 to 28,732, an increase of 648 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 3,27,031 cases, including 12,276 fatalities, and 1,82,217 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,80,643 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 1.25 lakh-mark with as many as 1,25,096 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Karnataka has reported the fourth highest tally of 71,069 cases.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,690), Tamil Nadu (2,626), Gujarat (2,196), Karnataka (1,464), Uttar Pradesh (1,229), West Bengal (1,182), and Madhya Pradesh (756).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Andhra Pradesh (58,668), Uttar Pradesh (53,288), Gujarat (50,379), Telangana (47,705), West Bengal (47,030), Rajasthan (31,373), Bihar (28,952), Haryana (27,462), Assam (25,382), Madhya Pradesh (24,095), Odisha (18,757), Jammu and Kashmir (15,258), Kerala (13,994) and Punjab (10,889).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Jharkhand (6,159), Chhattisgarh (5,729), Uttarakhand (4,849), Goa (4,027), Tripura (3,331), Pudducherry (2,179) and Manipur (2,015).
