With FATF’s Black-Listing Threat Looming Large, Pakistan Files Cases Against Hafiz Saeed and Key Aides

With the threat of being black-listed by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) hanging over its neck, Pakistan has reportedly swung into action and filed cases against Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and other members of his organisation, reports Economic Times.
The development comes as FATF in its recent week-long plenary held in Orlando, Florida had raised four key issues which included the issue of no investigations by pakistan on terror financing against UN designated terrorists like Saeed.
The cases have been filed through Pakistan's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab province, and include charges of terror financing and terror-facilitation. Cases have been filed against key leaders of the JuD, including Abdul Rehman Makki (brother-in-law of Saeed), Ameer Hamza and Mohammad Yahya Aziz.
India has however played down the development, asserting that Pakistan has in the past too booked Saeed and his outfit, but has never taken any action to stop his activities against India. India stressed that the development would be important only if the action by Pakistan is 'irreversible' and 'verifiable'.
