India’s first National School Board for Vedic Education’s proposal was accepted in a meeting of the Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedavidya Pratishthan (MSRVP) governing council chaired by Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar in Delhi on Friday.

The MSRVP is a fully-funded autonomous body under the HRD Ministry working on promotion of ‘Ved Vidya’. The autonomous body has been given approval to set up a Bharatiya Shiksha Board (BSB).

According to sources, the BSB will be established with the objective of standardising Vedic education and shall be along the lines of any other school board - drafting its own syllabus, conducting examinations and issuing certifications.

Apart from affiliating traditional pathshalas, the BSB will also be assigned the responsibility of evolving new kinds of schools that offer a blend of Vedic and modern education, reports Indian Express.

After its establishment, the board is likely to benefit educational institutions such as Acharyakulam, Vidya Bharati schools (run by RSS) and gurukuls run by the Arya Samaj.
