Activist Trupti Desai sitting at Kochi airport (@ANI/Twitter)
‘Right to pray’ activist Trupti Desai who had famously vowed to visit the Sabarimala temple was left stranded at the Cochin airport after she landed at about 5 AM on Friday (16 November), Matrubhumi has reported.
As per the report, her retinue was met with a large number of protesters who voiced their displeasure and chanted mantras as a form of protests. It was claimed that the protesters had united under the banner of the BJP.
As a result, she failed to hail a cab to get to Kottayam. He troubles were compounded by the fact that the taxi drivers were reluctant to take her as a passenger, purportedly because they were scared of the protesters.
Following the protests, the police reportedly asked the crowd to let her shift to a nearby hotel, but they were not willing. They chiefly demand that the activist go back to Maharashtra.
Desai though appears to have brazen things out in response by telling the media that she is not going to go back without taking Darshan. She was also quoted as reaffirming her faith in the Kerala government, which she claimed would provide her security.
It was earlier reported that she had asked the Kerala government to also pay for her Sabarimala visit.
