Your Neighbourhood Temple Can Now Get Online - And Free!

In a welcome development, Kerala-based Devaayanam (www.devaayanam.in) has launched an initiative through which any temple can get its own website for free, Business Line has reported.
As the world increasingly goes online, founders Sajeev Manayangath and Santhosh Poothankurissi say that the cloud-based platform will help the temples make the transition to ‘virtual’ easily. Any temple can have its website for free, said Manayangath.
Devaayanam aims to get the entire temple ecosystem online, which includes a free website, community blogs and religious products and services. All the temple management needs to do is send a mail or register at the site.
“Temples may choose to manage their site on their own or take our help. They can update activities and accept online bookings. No technology skills are needed for staff,” Manayangath said.
Donations and poojas can also be commissioned through the portal, while a centralised backend ensures that the poojas are performed. The temples can also organise fundraising events through the portal.
While enabling the various temples to generate funds online, the portal itself depends on ad revenue for its upkeep.
“We already have on our platform more than 30 temples spread across Palakkad, Thrissur, Kozhikkode and Kannur, and 1000 registered users. We have completed 5,000 pujas.
We want to reach out to temples outside Kerala. For this, we’re actively scouting for funds,” Manayangath added.
