The box office collection of director Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files' has reached close to Rs 80 crore mark in just six days of its release.
The Anupam Kher-starrer movie minted another Rs 19 crore on day five, setting a record for the largest collection made on a Wednesday since the beginning of the pandemic.
Interestingly, barring Monday, the movie continues to surpass the earnings of the previous day in the last six days.
The film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir following systematic killings of people from the community in the Valley in 1990s.
It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among others.
According to movie critic Taran Adarsh, 'The Kashmir Files' has been demolishing box office records , with the film earning most on Wednesday (16 March), six days after its release.
"The Kashmir Files continues to create HAVOC… SMASHES myths and DEMOLISHES box office records… Day-wise numbers are an EYE-OPENER, a CASE STUDY…" Adarsh said in a tweet.
The film earned Rs 3.55 crore on Friday, Rs 8.5 crore on Saturday, Rs 15.1 crore on Sunday, Rs 15.05 crore on Monday and Rs 18 crore on Tuesday and Rs 19.05 crore on Wednesday, according to Adarsh.
The total collection of the movie in the country till Tuesday is Rs 79.25 crore.
