Police Recover 92 Clear Footages of Bareilly Riots (X)
Bareilly police have recovered 92 clear footages of the recent riots, some showing crowds breaking barriers and others capturing scuffles, reported Amar Ujala.
Officers are re-examining recordings from 150 CCTV cameras to identify miscreants.
So far, investigations have revealed around 3,000 unidentified accused.
On Wednesday (1 October) SSP Anurag Arya reviewed progress with teams working on CCTV and drone footage at the camp office.
Police from Kotwali and Baradari posts recovered 50 footages, while Cyber Police Station Inspector Neeraj Singh’s team secured 42.
These videos show crowds advancing toward Civil Lines, carrying stones and sticks, while police struggled to control the situation and used a lathi charge to disperse them.
One video captures the mob shouting slogans near Chauphula Bridge and a sudden commotion near Naumahal Mosque, even as a policeman folded his hands.
Amid Dussehra celebrations on Thursday (2 October), the movement of forces which arrived from other districts have been suspended until 4 October.
Authorities have increased security in sensitive and mixed-population areas, deploying drone surveillance.
Inflammatory videos are circulating on social media, including one from Instagram ID “Mian Bhai”, stating, You beat us up when we were empty-handed; this time we’ll come prepared. We’ll make Bareilly the next Nepal.
Police are identifying the individuals behind such posts.
Following Maulana Tauqeer’s imprisonment, there have been continuous attempts to vitiate the atmosphere.
