Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday (2 October) issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that any misadventure in the Sir Creek sector would invite a decisive response from India.

Speaking after performing Shastra Puja at the Bhuj Military Station on Vijayadashami, the Defence Minister praised the Armed Forces for their swift success in Operation Sindoor, while stressing that India’s security forces remain fully prepared to defend the nation on all fronts.

Singh lauded the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force for thwarting Pakistan’s attempts to breach India’s defences “from Leh to Sir Creek Sector" during Operation Sindoor.

He said the operation exposed weaknesses in Pakistan’s air defence system and proved India’s capability to strike “at a time, place and manner of its choosing.”

Highlighting Pakistan’s recent military build-up in the Sir Creek sector, the Defence Minister accused Islamabad of continuing to create disputes even after 78 years of India’s independence.

“If Pakistan dares to act in Sir Creek Sector, the reply will be so strong that it will change both history and geography,” he said.

Recalling the Indian Army’s advance to Lahore in 1965, he cautioned Pakistan that “the road to Karachi also passes through the Creek.”

Singh noted that the record-time success of Operation Sindoor was possible due to the seamless coordination among the three services.

While affirming India’s military strength, he emphasised that New Delhi exercised restraint, clarifying that the operation was aimed at neutralising terrorism rather than escalating conflict.

Terming Shastra Puja a reflection of India’s civilizational ethos, Singh said weapons are seen as instruments of dharma.

“Knowledge without the power to defend it is vulnerable, and power without the guidance of knowledge leads to chaos,” he remarked, underlining the balance of Shaastra (knowledge) and Shastra (weapons).

The Defence Minister also reiterated India’s progress towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, stressing that the country is emerging as a producer and exporter of defence equipment.

He referred to the recently conducted Exercise Varunastra as an example of the combined operational capability of the forces.

On the occasion, Singh virtually inaugurated the Tidal Independent Berthing Facility and the Joint Control Centre (JCC) in the strategic Creek sector, which are expected to enhance coastal operations, security coordination and rapid response capabilities.

Extending greetings on Vijayadashami, Singh said the festival reinforces the lesson that righteousness always triumphs over evil.

Paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, he said Gandhiji symbolised moral courage that compelled a mighty empire to bow down, adding that Indian soldiers embody both morale and weaponry to face any challenge.

The event at Bhuj was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Corps Commander Lieutenant General Aditya Vikram Singh Rathee, and Air Commodore KPS Dham.
