Bypolls For Five Assembly Seats Across Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab And West Bengal On 19 June: Election Commission

The Election Commission has announced by-elections for five assembly constituencies across Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab, and West Bengal.

The constituencies are Kadi and Visavadar in Gujarat, Nilambur in Kerala, Ludhiana West in Punjab, and Kaliganj in West Bengal.

Following the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct is now in force in these assembly constituencies.

The voting for all five assembly seats is scheduled for 19 June 19 while the counting of votes will be held on 23 June.

For these by-polls, the Commission has decided to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) in all polling stations.

The poll panel said that it has decided to use EVMs and VVPATs in the bye-election in all the polling stations.

The by-election process will officially begin with the issuance of the gazette notification on 26 May 2025.

Candidates can file their nominations until 2 June, after which the scrutiny of nominations will take place on 3 June.

The last date for withdrawal of candidatures has been set as 5 June.

Voting across all five constituencies will be conducted on 19 June.

The counting of votes will follow on 23 June, and the entire election process will be completed by 25 June.
