Chhattisgarh Gains Direct Rail Link To Gujarat And Odisha As PM Modi Flags Off New Amrit Bharat Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the new Amrit Bharat Express between Brahmapur (Odisha) and Udhna (Gujarat) on Saturday (27 September), giving Chhattisgarh a major boost in rail connectivity, reported The Times Of India.

The train will stop at Ralpur, Durg, and Gondia stations under the South East Central Railway (SECR) zone.

An SECR spokesperson said, the train will provide passengers in the region with long-distance, direct connectivity.

This service will connect Chhattisgarh directly to Gujarat’s textile and industrial hub Surat, as well as Odisha’s coastal city Brahmapur, saving travel time and eliminating the need for multiple trains.

Equipped with modern LHB coaches, the Amrit Bharat Express offers enhanced comfort with improved seating and onboard facilities. Passengers will have access to a weekly direct service, ensuring safer and more convenient long-distance travel.

From 5 October, Train No. 19021 will operate every Sunday (departing Udhna at 7:10 am), and Train No. 19022 every Monday (departing Brahmapur at 11:45 pm). Stops include Gondia, Durg, and Ralpur in both directions.

Officials stressed, the new service is a significant step in strengthening Chhattisgarh’s railway network and is expected to boost both passenger convenience and the state’s economic growth.
