CM Fadnavis Clears Multimodal Corridor And New Metropolitan Transport And Asset Management Bodies For Nagpur

Nagpur is set for a major urban and rural overhaul as the state government moves ahead with comprehensive infrastructure and connectivity projects under the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA).
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired the 10th meeting of the Nagpur Metropolitan Development Authority (NMDA) at the Sahyadri Guest House on 20 October.
A key highlight of the meeting was the decision to connect the roads in New Nagpur to the outer ring road, with Fadnavis emphasising that appropriate provisions should be made in it from now on to convert this outer ring road into a multimodal corridor in the future.
He further instructed that the roads in New Nagpur should be widened and designed to ensure smooth connectivity across the city.
The meeting also approved the creation of two independent bodies to streamline urban management. An independent asset management company will oversee NMDA’s existing properties and those to be developed in the future.
In parallel, a separate Nagpur Metropolitan Transport Undertaking Company will be established to harmonise public and private transport, manage traffic efficiently, and develop new and feeder routes across the metropolitan region.
A revised structure of 156 posts within the authority was also approved, alongside the appointment of the Nagpur Improvement Trust as the implementing agency for several ongoing projects within the Nagpur Municipal Area.
The Rs 6,500 crore New Nagpur project along the Samruddhi Expressway is transforming Ladgaon, Godhani, and surrounding villages into high-value urban hubs.
Land prices have surged up to Rs 2–2.5 crore per acre, with neighbouring villages like Gumgaon, Deoli, and Sawangi also witnessing sharp appreciation as farmers and investors eye development-driven opportunities.
