Gautam Adani is set to establish a think-tank with a global focus. It is expected to be named as Chintan Research Foundation and will work on areas like climate change, energy transition and international politics.

Financial Times reported that the New Delhi-based institution will be launched by next month with a seed capital of Rs 100 crore from the Adani Group and will likely attract foreign funding in the future.

It will be expanded with branches in major Indian cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru and will also have overseas branches in Washington and possibly London.

Adani Group will not have a direct involvement in the functioning of the institute. The appointment of a chair and an international advisory board is in process to run the think-tank.

Meanwhile, another major Indian company, Reliance Industries is also focusing on research as it is a major funder of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), that organises Raisina Dialogues.

This comes months after Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister's Economics Advisory Council, urged Indian rating agencies to set norms and give certificates to the world.

He has been advocating for India-based think-tanks that can take the Indian thought to influence global narratives, global benchmarks, global certification and global norms.
