The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (4 January) unveiled its first list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 2025.

Key names in the list include former West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma, who will contest against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency.

Former South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri has been selected to challenge Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji.

Meanwhile, former AAP Minister Kailash Gahlot will contest from Bijwasan instead of his traditional constituency, Najafgarh.

The list’s release was initially expected in late December following a Central Election Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the AAP has announced its candidates for all the 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi.

The Congress has named candidates for 21 seats with more expected soon.
