Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (8 February) expressed gratitude towards the people of Delhi for giving a "resounding" and "historic" mandate to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Assembly elections.

With leads and wins in 47 seats so far, the BJP is comfortably ahead of the 35-seat majority mark in the 70-seat Delhi Assembly and is set to return to power in the national capital after 27 years.

As of 3.15 pm, BJP has won 25 seats and is leading on 23 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which ruled the national capital for ten years, is trailing with leads and win on 22 seats, according to the EC data.

"Jana Shakti is paramount! Development wins, good governance triumphs. I bow to my dear sisters and brothers of Delhi for this resounding and historic mandate to BJP. We are humbled and honoured to receive these blessings," PM Modi said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has conceded defeat in the Delhi assembly elections 2025. He congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a sweeping victory in the polls.

In a video message, Arvind Kejriwal said, "We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted them.”
