Google To Invest $10 Billion In Data Centre And AI Project In Andhra Pradesh

Alphabet Inc.’s Google will invest $10 billion to establish a large-scale data centre and artificial intelligence hub in Andhra Pradesh, marking its biggest investment in India so far, the Hindustan Times reported.

The company plans to build a 1-gigawatt data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, which will integrate AI infrastructure, renewable energy sources, and an expanded fibre-optic network.

A formal agreement between Google and the Andhra Pradesh government is expected to be signed later today (14 October).

According to a statement from the state government, the project will position Andhra Pradesh as a key player in India’s rapidly growing digital economy and strengthen the state’s role in supporting next-generation AI technologies.

The announcement comes as major global tech companies intensify spending on data centres to meet the surging demand for AI computing and cloud services. India, with its expanding digital infrastructure and supportive policy environment, has become a focal point for such investments.

The proposed Visakhapatnam campus is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs and contribute to the state’s digital ecosystem.

Google has been steadily expanding its infrastructure footprint in India over the past decade, including cloud regions in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Hyderabad.
