Haryana Government Clears Extension Of Rapid Rail Corridor To Bawal From Dharuhera

The Haryana government has approved the extension of the Delhi–Alwar rapid rail corridor up to Bawal, overturning its earlier decision to terminate the first phase at Dharuhera. The move is expected to ease daily commuting for thousands across southern Haryana.

the decision came after Haryana Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh raised objections during a official meeting on 18 September, questioning the plan to limit the corridor to Dharuhera.

Following this, Singh wrote a letter to Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to reconsider the corridor’s alignment, according to a Hindustan Times report.

On 26 September, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) conveyed its in-principle approval to the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), confirming the corridor’s expansion.

HMRTC Managing Director Chander Shekhar Khare noted that any further extension beyond Bawal would require cost-sharing by the respective states.

Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh welcomed the move and emphasised that the first phase of the project should ideally extend further to Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan.

He urged the Rajasthan government to share the project cost within its territory to ensure seamless rapid rail connectivity between the two states.

The Delhi–Alwar corridor, part of the Namo Bharat network, has faced years of delay due to funding and coordination issues.
