The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will execute a Rs 398 crore infrastructure project aimed at creating a seamless, signal-free corridor along the Mehdipatnam to Gachibowli artery, The New Indian Express reported.
The initiative which is an important part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) initiative, will see the construction of sophisticated multi-level flyovers and grade separators at the Rethibowli and Nanalnagar junctions.
The plan is designed to drastically improve travel speeds for commuters, particularly those heading towards the city's IT corridor.
A substantial portion of the budget, Rs 220 crore, is allocated directly to the physical construction.
The corporation will execute the works on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, with a two-year construction timeline followed by a two-year defect liability period for the appointed agency.
Officials confirm that the new structures will ensure a smooth flow of traffic, with a minimum design speed of 40 kmph. The structural components in the viaduct are being designed for 80 kmph.
