Odisha government has allocated nearly 5,500 acre of land for IT parks, towers and electronic manufacturing hubs in Bhubaneswar under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The move comes as several IT and semiconductor firms have expressed interest in setting up operations in the state, though land allocation had remained a key hurdle in recent years, The New Indian Express reported.

According to officials cited in the TNIE report, large parcels have been identified at Mundali (980 acre), Kuaput Hills and Haldipada (1,694 acre), Aranga (1,504 acre), Aragul (874.5 acre) and near XIM University square (441.5 acre).

Plug-and-play facilities are also planned in existing and upcoming commercial towers, allowing quicker rollout for investors.

Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, who chaired a recent high-level meeting, directed the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and Khurda administration to expedite land acquisition.

“These towers should be expeditiously completed and kept ready for allotment to applicants. The aim is to provide ready infrastructure to companies without the long wait for spaces,” Ahuja was quoted as saying by TNIE.

Alongside new land parcels, smaller plots within Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) limits will be tapped for IT parks and multi-storey towers, particularly for startups, medium enterprises and service providers seeking immediate office space.

Priority will also be given to completing ongoing projects at Infocity and Infovalley, as well as the proposed NBCC, OBCC, OMC and Chandaka IT towers.

The state has also decided to reclaim underutilised land from large IT units and developers, including DLF, where growth targets have not been met.

Additionally, IDCO will roll out a GIS-based land management system overlaying forest records to streamline project clearances.

The government is further set to request the East Coast Railway to allocate dedicated space for IT and ITeS companies in the upcoming Bhubaneswar railway station complex, adding another dimension to the city’s expanding tech ecosystem.
