In a major security operation, seventeen militants affiliated with various banned outfits were arrested across four districts in Manipur within the last 24 hours, police confirmed on Friday (21 February), reported The Hindu.
Among those arrested, thirteen militants belonging to the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) outfit were apprehended from the Moirang Kiyam Leikai area of Bishnupur district on Thursday (20 February), according to an official police statement.
During the operation, security forces recovered 27 cartridges, three walkie-talkie sets, camouflage uniforms, and other tactical accessories.
The arrested militants were taken to Imphal for further questioning and investigation.
In another operation on the same day, a militant of the banned United National Liberation Front (P) was arrested from the Ngariyan Ching area of Imphal East district.
Meanwhile, security forces apprehended a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) from Ngaikhong Khullen in Bishnupur district.
One active cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) involved in extortion was arrested from Kakching Sumak Leikai in Kakching district.
Additionally, a cadre of KCP (PWG) was taken into custody from Pheidinga in Imphal West district.s
