Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran's Tenure Extended By Two Years Until March 2027

The Union government has granted a two-year extension to Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran, extending his tenure until 31 March 2027.

The office order on the extension of Nageswaran's tenure was issued on Thursday (20 February), news agency ANI reported.

V Anantha Nageswaran was appointed as the Chief Economic Adviser by the government and took charge on 28 January 2022.

Before this appointment, Nageswaran has worked as a writer, author, teacher and consultant.

He has been a faculty member at multiple business schools and institutes of management in India and Singapore, with a wide range of published works to his credit.

Nageswaran previously served as the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and held the position of Distinguished Visiting Professor of Economics at Krea University.

From 2019 to 2021, he was a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.

Nageswaran holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and later completed his doctorate at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

His tenure extension comes weeks after the tabling of the Economic Survey 2024-25 in Parliament, a document prepared by Nageswaran and his team, three weeks ago.
