"India Could Play Dirty": Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Sparks Row With ‘Two-Front War’ Remark

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has sparked fresh controversy by linking India to Islamabad’s escalating border tensions with Afghanistan, reported NDTV.

Asif claimed that India "could play dirty at the border" and asserted that Pakistan was prepared for a "two-front war" amid ongoing clashes with Kabul.

Responding to a question on possible Indian provocations, Asif said, "No, absolutely, you cannot rule that out. There are strong possibilities."

When asked whether any strategy discussions had taken place with the Prime Minister, he replied, "Yes, strategies are in place. I can't discuss them publicly, but we are prepared for any eventuality."

Earlier this week, Asif accused Afghanistan’s Taliban government of “fighting a proxy war” on behalf of India.

Asif alleged that the decisions of the Afghan Taliban were “being sponsored by Delhi,” adding, “Right now, Kabul is fighting a proxy war for Delhi.”

The truce came after several days of intensified violence along the border.

The Taliban launched an offensive across sections of its southern frontier with Pakistan, prompting Islamabad to threaten a strong response.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of sheltering militants from the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), a charge Kabul denies.
