PM Modi Conducts Aerial Survey In Flood-Hit Himachal, Heads To Punjab For Review

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (9 September) conducted an aerial survey of flood and landslide-affected Mandi and Kullu districts in Himachal Pradesh from Kangra, reported the Times Of India.

He assessed the large-scale devastation caused by heavy monsoon rains and later met officials, rescue personnel, and affected residents.

Modi arrived in Kangra around 1:30 pm, where he chaired a high-level review meeting with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukku, Union Minister JP Nadda, and other dignitaries approved by the PMO.

He also interacted with teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and Aapda Mitra, along with flood-affected families.

Before departing, the Prime Minister posted on X, “Leaving for Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to review the situation in the wake of floods and landslides. The Government of India stands shoulder to shoulder with those affected in this tragic hour.”

Punjab continues to grapple with severe flooding, which has claimed 51 lives, according to the state’s Department of Information and Public Relations.

Swollen rivers and inundated districts have forced thousands to evacuate, triggering massive relief operations.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh has reported 370 deaths this monsoon season. The State Disaster Management Authority confirmed 205 fatalities from rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts, while 165 people lost their lives in road accidents.
