Three days after two young software engineers were killed in a motorcycle accident involving a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-and-a-half-year-old boy, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) issued a notice for him to appear at noon on Wednesday (22 May).

According to a report from The Indian Express, the JJB, which had previously granted the boy bail, issued the notice through his lawyers. The boy, son of a local realtor, will appear before the board.

After the accident early Sunday, the minor was detained and presented to the JJB in Pune that afternoon. The Pune police requested his custody at a remand home and sought permission to try him as an adult.

The JJB denied this application and instead granted the minor bail with conditions, including writing an essay and studying traffic safety norms. Dr L N Danwade, a non-judicial member of the board, issued the bail order.

Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, commented after Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that the police had approached the district court in Pune to try the minor as an adult.

As per the same report by JJB notice was related to this application by the police.

Additionally, the Pune police arrested the minor's father on Tuesday, charging him under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for allowing his minor son to consume alcohol and drive the Porsche while inebriated. They also invoked a provision of the Motor Vehicle Act for allowing a minor to drive without a licence.
