The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will launch its centenary celebrations on 2 October in Nagpur with the Vijayadashmi Utsav at Reshimbagh ground, where the organisation has held its annual Dussehra gathering since 1995.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind will attend as chief guest, while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will deliver the keynote address, reported The Times Of India.

RSS functionary Sunil Ambekar announced in Nagpur that the year-long programme will continue until next year’s Dussehra.

“This is not only a celebration of our journey, but a mission to free India from the colonial mindset and to build a self-reliant, swadeshi-based nation,” he said, asserting that Bharat was always a Hindu Rashtra.

The centenary will feature more than 1.03 lakh Hindu gatherings across RSS bastis and mandals. Last year, over 7,000 swayamsevaks participated in uniform at the Nagpur event; organisers expect triple the turnout this year.

Prominent Indian guests include former Army Commander Rana Pratap Kalita, Deccan Industries MD K.V. Karthik, and Bajaj Finserv Chairman Sanjiv Bajaj.

The calendar includes cultural events for children in Nagpur on 28 September and 5 October, dialogue sessions in Bengaluru (7-8 Nov), Kolkata (21 Dec), and Mumbai (6-7 Feb), and an all-India spiritual meet in Jabalpur in November.

The Sangh will also conduct a nationwide door-to-door campaign. “This campaign will ensure straight and open conversations with people about Sangh’s work,” Ambekar said.

He added that the centenary aims to awaken society, strengthen families, build patriotic character, and expand shakhas across rural and urban India.
