Sanskrit Must Be People-Driven, Not Just State-Endorsed, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has called for Sanskrit to be used more extensively in daily life across India, Indian Express reported.
“If we want to understand the strength of knowledge given by the Sanskrit language, we must also understand its underlying meaning. For that, language is essential," Bhagwat said at the inauguration of a building at Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University in Nagpur on Friday (1 August).
"Although many treasures of knowledge have reached many homes through Sanskrit texts and stotras, Sanskrit should now become not just patronised by rulers but also patronised by the people,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed hope that the university will play a key role in making Sanskrit-based knowledge in architecture, ayurveda, astronomy, mathematics, and chemistry more accessible to the public.
Fadnavis made these remarks at the inauguration of the Param Pujya Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar International Gurukul and Educational Building, and during the ground-breaking of the student facility at Waranga, Wardha Road, Nagpur.
"Sanskrit is not just a language but the soul of Bharat’s wisdom, thought, and identity. Through research, teaching and dissemination, this treasure must reach future generations," he said.
