Union Minister of State for Planning and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh has called on Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal to accelerate the formulation of a policy linking the Dwarka Expressway with Delhi’s Airport Metro corridor (Orange Line) and the Dwarka Metro line (Blue Line).

The minister emphasised that such connectivity would greatly improve mobility for thousands of residents living along the fast-developing Dwarka Expressway stretch.

In a letter sent earlier this month, Singh highlighted that numerous residential colonies had emerged along the 29 km Dwarka Expressway, which connects Gurugram to Delhi, as well as around Pataudi Road, Basai Road and Farruknagar Road.

He wrote that residents of these colonies can benefit from the metro’s access to Delhi.

It was agreed in principle to examine extending both the Delhi Airport Metro corridor and the Blue Line towards the Dwarka Expressway, with a further link to the Southern Peripheral Road through the Kherki Daula cloverleaf interchange on National Highway 48.

He further mentioned that NCRTC officials briefed him on a draft project proposing to extend the Orange Line up to IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram, passing through Sectors 22 and 23.
