'Used To Sell Bodies, Trafficked Biomedical Waste': Fresh Allegations Against Former Principal Of Kolkata College

The controversial former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, where a 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered, is facing fresh allegations from his former colleague.

Former deputy superintendent of the college, Akhtar Ali has claimed that Dr Sandip Ghosh used to do business with unclaimed dead bodies and was also involved in trafficking biomedical waste.

Ali revealed that a case was also registered against Ghosh and the enquiry committee, of which Ali was also a part, found Ghosh guilty but no action was taken against Ghosh, instead, Ali was transferred.

Ali has accused Ghosh of cross-border trafficking of medical things as he allegedly used to sell it to the people, who used to send it to Bangladesh, India Today reported.

Ghosh is also expected to undergo a lie detector or polygraph test as he is accused of passing off the murder as suicide earlier and then delaying action in the case.

The Supreme Court in its Tuesday hearing also raised questions over the role of the principal in covering up the case. Ghosh stepped couple of days after the incident but was appointed head of another medical college within hours.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been formed to probe the financial irregularities that happened in the college during Ghosh's term as principal since 2021.
