R to L: CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak in Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly

Uttar Pradesh (UP) Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Keshav Prasad Maurya has again praised CM Yogi Adityanath since the two leaders reached a truce after weeks of a rift.

While speaking at an event on the death anniversary of former UP CM Kalyan Singh, who sacrificed his chair for the Ram Mandir movement, Maurya said that Adityanath is following Singh's footsteps.

"Under Kalyan Singh's rule, Uttar Pradesh witnessed good governance, development and freedom from corruption. No compromises were made in Rashtra Bhakti (patriotism) and Ram Bhakti (devotion to Lord Ram," he said.

"Similarly, under our CM Yogi Adityanath, no compromises are being made with Ram Bhakti and Rashtra Bhakti. Like the national government is following Atal (Bihari Vajpayee) ji's footsteps, the UP government is following Babuji (Kalyan Singh)'s footsteps," he continued.

This is the second stance in a week when Maurya has publicly praised Adityanath. Earlier, he had called him "best CM" in the country while speaking to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Mirzapur.

Praising the double-engine government of the BJP, the UP deputy CM said, "When our country's leader is most influential in the world and when our CM is the best among other CMs of the country, then why should we be at backfoot?"

The rift between Maurya and Adityanath was settled last month after they participated in the Council of CMs and Deputy CMs meeting with PM Modi in New Delhi on 27-28 July.
