BJP supporters raise party flags at a rally.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead of Congress in the Rajasthan panchayat polls in the Congress-ruled state.
BJP has ensured that the performance record of the ruling party in the state’s panchayat and zilla parishad polls is broken.
BJP president J P Nadda has thanked the voters of Rajasthan, especially farmers, labourers and women for giving the party a strong position in the polls to panchayat samiti and zilla parishad held in the 21 districts of the state and "reposing their faith" in the BJP.
In Nagaur, where Member of Parliament Hanuman Beniwal has been working to expand the reach of his party for the next assembly polls, BJP has won 20 seats while Congress secured 18.
Beniwal's Rashtriya Loktantrik Party managed to win nine seats.
BJP has won 1,833 panchayat samiti seats, Congress 1,713, independents – 420. In zilla parishad polls, the BJP has won 265 and Congress 201.
