Sangh Parivar leaders invite LK Advani to Ram Mandir ceremony
International Working President of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) Alok Kumar on Thursday (11 October) confirmed veteran BJP leader LK Advani's arrival at the Ram Mandir ceremony scheduled for 22 January.
Speaking to ANI, he said, "Yes, he (Advani) will come (to the ceremony). When Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) vice-president Shri Krishna Gopal ji, Ram Lal ji and I went to invite him, we discussed logistics and arrangements that need to be made."
"For how long can he sit, will any doctor be available, will someone accompany him the whole time, everything was discussed. Krishna Gopal ji assured his family that it is important for Advani ji to come to the event and everybody wants his presence, hence we will make all arrangements for him," Kumar elaborated.
"We are happy that at the age of 96 and despite facing health issues, he (Advani) has invited our invite," Kumar concluded.
Last month, the VHP had extended invitation to veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi to attend the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
Earlier, media reports were claiming that the two leading figures of the Ram Mandir movement were not attending the event. This was after Ram Mandir Trust secretary Champat Rai said that he had advised them to not come considering their age.
