Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has extended invitation to veteran BJP leaders L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi to attend the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on 22 January 2024.
This comes amid reports that the two leading figures of the Ram Mandir movement were not attending the event.
Alok Kumar, the International Working President of the VHP, and senior Sangh leader Ram Lal invited both Advani and Joshi to attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ programme of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 22 January next year.
"Invited respected Lal Krishna Advani ji and respected Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi ji, the pioneer of Ram Mandir movement, to attend the Pran Pratishtha program of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 22 January 2024. There was talk about Ramji's movement. Both the seniors said That he will make every effort to come," Alok Kumar, International Executive President, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, said.
This comes after media reports that the duo had previously turned down the invites to the Ram Mandir’s inauguration event due to their advanced age.
"Both are elders of the family and considering their age, they were requested not to come, which was accepted by both," Ram Mandir Trust secretary Champat Rai was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
