News Brief
Arvind Kejriwal and Indranil Rajguru.
Congress leader and former Gujarat MLA, Indranil Rajguru, has made shocking revelations about the inner workings of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its chief Arvind Kejriwal.
In an interview, Rajguru, who joined AAP in April this year but left the party soon after to rejoin Congress, narrated his account of being in the Kejriwal-led political outfit.
He alleged that the AAP works like a trading company. Giving his example, he told that he was asked by the party to provide funds, which he did. He noticed that his presence on party posters was directly proportional to the money he could provide.
Rajguru also claimed that he saw Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s cavalcade carrying a huge amount of funds on their visit to Gujarat on 1 October. When he enquired about where the money came from, Kejriwal hinted at bringing the money via a chartered flight booked on government money.
He also claimed that AAP, which claims to be honest, has been spending black money for the elections through hawala operators called ‘angadias’.
In a recent case, AAP’s candidate from Bardoli constituency, had admitted to having received Rs 20 lakh from AAP’s Delhi office via angadia or hawala operator, to organise a party event.
There were reports of AAP members blackening Rajguru's face on a poster at the party's Ahmedabad office. Reacting to it, the Congress leader alleged that such an act was ordered by none other than AAP's leadership.
The reporter asked him if he left the party since he was not made the chief ministerial candidate by AAP. Rajguru replied that he was in talks with Congress much before AAP’s CM candidate was announced.
In fact, he had even skipped a few meetings conducted by Kejriwal.
So, the question of him leaving the party because someone else was made the candidate does not arise. He also added that the name of Isudan Gadhvi, AAP’s CM candidate in Gujarat, was pre-decided.
AAP had announced Gadhvi’s name, claiming that his name was chosen based on the public poll it conducted in Gujarat.
Rajguru had joined the AAP after quitting the Congress in April this year. He returned to the party citing that it was the best option for defeating the BJP in Gujarat. He would be contesting from Rajkot-East constituency on Congress ticket.
