Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson, Sambit Patra alleged on Tuesday (9 January) that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spent Rs 29 crore on "civil works only" for his residence.

Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener, Patra wrote on X, "Proof that Arvind Kejriwal wants his personal development at the cost of Delhi's development."

He attached a copy of an RTI (right to Information) reply and alleged that it shows that Delhi government spent Rs. 29,56,35,074/- on only civil works at the residence of the Delhi CM.

The RTI reply was in response to a question that how much was spent on the official residence of Delhi CM between 31 March 2015 and 27 December 2022.

The RTI plea further sought names of the contractors hired for these works and amount paid to them. The answer had four names: Munzareen Ahmad, M/S MA Builders, Mohd Arshad and M/S AK Builders.

Notably, the Union Home Ministry had issued instructions for a CBI investigation into allegations surrounding the refurbishment of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in September of the previous year.
