Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal moved a Motion of Confidence in the Delhi Assembly on Friday (16 February), a day after he received his sixth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case.

After Kejriwal skipped the earlier five summons, the ED filed a complaint at a Delhi court. In response, the court has asked him to appear on 17 February to explain why he did so.

Notably, the House proceedings on the Motion of Confidence will take place tomorrow at 11 am, which means on the same day when Kejriwal is expected to appear before the court. The House was adjourned till tomorrow.

As per the sixth summons, the central investigative agency has asked the Delhi CM to appear on 19 February. There are speculations about his arrest, which also appears in Kejriwal's statement while moving the Motion.

"We can see that parties are being broken and governments are being toppled in other states by slapping false cases. In Delhi, they intend to arrest AAP leaders under the pretext of the liquor policy case," he said.

"They want to topple the Delhi Government because they know that they can never win the election in Delhi...To show the people that none of our MLAs broke away and all of them are intact, I present a Confidence Motion...," Kejriwal added.

This comes after Kejriwal had alleged last month that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to poach seven of their Delhi MLAs. He claimed that the BJP was offering Rs 25 crore and a BJP ticket to contest the elections to break away AAP MLAs.

Soon after, Crime Branch officials served a notice to him and Delhi Minister Atishi over these allegations and asked them to provide evidence supporting the allegations made.
