Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will spend the weekend in Tihar Jail as the Supreme Court is not scheduled to hear his challenge to the recent Delhi High Court ruling until Monday (10 April) as per a report by NDTV.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader's petition is expected to be taken up then, as the Supreme Court is closed for Eid-Ul-Fitr on Thursday and Friday, followed by the weekend.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, raised the matter before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud this morning, seeking an urgent hearing.

However, the chief justice did not confirm if a hearing would be granted today, stating, "We will see, we will look into it."

The Delhi High Court had dismissed Kejriwal's challenge to his 21 March arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to Delhi's now-defunct liquor policy.

The court stated that the ED had few options left after the AAP leader ignored multiple summonses in the money laundering case.

It also cited the ED's claim that Kejriwal was actively involved in using and concealing alleged proceeds of crime.

CJI Chandrachud had earlier expressed his intention to promptly review Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the ED in connection with the excise policy case.

Senior Advocate A M Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, informed CJI Chandrachud that the high court's decision was based on an "unreliable document which was suppressed" from him.

CJI Chandrachud instructed Singhvi to send an email, following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and assured that he would review the matter "immediately."

The Delhi High Court, in its dismissal of the plea, stated that the ED had sufficient material to justify Kejriwal's arrest.
