In a case of copyright infringement, social media handles of Congress were ordered to be blocked by a Bengaluru court on Monday (7 November).

As reported by the Indian Express, a civil court in Bengaluru ordered the removal of links that contained videos which had used music from the recent blockbuster KGF-Chapter 2.

It asked Congress to take down the links while ordering the blocking of the Twitter accounts.

MRT music which holds the rights over the music from the film went to court against the official Twitter handles of the Congress. The complaint has been filed against the Congress party in general and three of its leaders — Jairam Ramesh, Supriya Shrinate and Rahul Gandhi.

Congress, late evening, tweeted saying they had no knowledge of any such action.

“We have read on social media about an adverse order from a Bengaluru court against INC & BJY SM handles. We were neither made aware of nor present at court proceedings. No copy of the order has been recieved,” said the tweet.

The party also tweeted that they ‘are pursuing all the legal remedies’ at their disposal.

As quoted by Outlook, the music label’s attorney said, "The complaint mainly pertains to the unlawful fraudulent and illegal actions of the members of the steering committee in so far as violating the copyrights owned by MRT Music.”

Indian National Congress (INC) has also been accused of creating a video ‘by unlawfully downloading and synchronising and broadcasting the songs pertaining to the movie KGF-Chapter 2 in Hindi and portraying it to be owned by the INC‘.

Meanwhile, actor and former Congress social media head Ramya aka Divya Spandana who has made a reappearance both on the cinema and political scene, after a hiatus, tweeted and ascribed such action to the political interests of Lahari Velu of Lahari Music Company.

‘Lahari Velu is looking for a BJP ticket maybe, that’s why? It‘s so sad when they do this. KGF songs are widely shared by EVERYONE. He has a problem only when Congress uses it’, tweeted Ramya.
