Bihar Sub-Inspector Hit By Car Carrying Illegal Liquor Dies Days After Minister Said, 'Such Incidents Keep Occurring'

In Bihar's Begusarai district, a tragic incident occurred early on Wednesday (20 December) when a car hit police officers resulting in the death of a sub-inspector and injuries to another officer, as reported by The New Indian express.
The officers were attempting to intercept a car based on a tip-off indicating a violation of the state's strict prohibition law by transporting liquor.
Sub-inspector Khamas Chaudhary (52), stationed at Naavkothi Police Station, responded to the information with three home guard personnel.
They rushed to a bridge on the Budhi Gandak River to stop the suspected vehicle.
However, the driver accelerated, striking Chaudhary, who succumbed to the injuries, and a home guard jawan, currently hospitalised.
Begusarai Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar stated that a team, led by Sub Divisional Police Officer Chandan Kumar, has been formed to apprehend all those involved in the incident.
The car owner has already been located and taken into custody, as per the SP.
Earlier in November, a similar incident took place when a police sub-inspector in Bihar's Jamui district was mowed down by a truck carrying illegally mined sand.
Reacting to it, Bihar Minister Chandra Shekhar had said, "Such incidents keep occurring" and questioned, "Is this a new incident? Is this the first time this has happened? Doesn't this happen in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh?"
