The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has outlined a comprehensive vision for infrastructure development in India through its manifesto, 'Sankalp Patra' released today (14 April).

Over the past decade, the BJP claims to have transformed infrastructure in terms of quality, quantity, and reach, with every region of the country experiencing the benefits of these efforts. The party pledges to continue these efforts to enable citizens to realise their full potential in life and livelihood.

Railway Infrastructure:

The BJP plans to expand the railway network to increase capacity for both passenger and cargo transportation. In the last ten years, they have constructed 31,000 km of railway tracks and are now adding over 5000 km of new tracks every year.

Now, the party aims to significantly increase passenger carrying capacity by 2030 to reduce waiting lists. They also plan to expand the Kavach Train Protection System to enhance safety.

Railway Modernisation:

The BJP has already started the redevelopment of 1,300+ railway stations to world-class standards and plans to expand this project to all major and medium-sized stations.

They have also developed and manufactured world-class trains like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat, which they intend to expand further.

Road Infrastructure:

Under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana, the BJP plans to extend road connectivity to the remotest areas to improve access to healthcare, education, government services, and markets. They also aim to enhance road safety through technological interventions, training, and behavioral change.

The party plans to construct 15,000 km of access-controlled highways and ring roads around major cities to improve mobility and decongest cities.

Electric Vehicles (EVs):

The BJP has facilitated the induction of over 30 lakh EVs and plans to increase the fleet of EVs and establish EV charging stations.

Airports and Aviation:

The party plans to enhance air connectivity by developing and operationalising new airports, helipads, and aerodromes. They also aim to transform airports into multi-modal hubs with integrated transit facilities.

Waterways and Shipping:

The BJP plans to double the share of Inland Water Transport in transportation by integrating various initiatives. They also aim to expand water metro services and revamp the legal framework to enable faster growth of the Shipping industry.

Digital Infrastructure:

The BJP plans to expand 5G networks and take the lead in developing 6G technology. They also aim to connect every village with broadband through BharatNet and digitise land records.

Energy Security:

The party aims to achieve energy independence by 2047 through a mix of electric mobility, renewable energy production, and improving energy efficiency. They also plan to increase ethanol blending in petrol and expand nuclear energy production.

Overall, the BJP's Sankalp Patra outlines a comprehensive roadmap for infrastructure development, promising transformative changes across various sectors to propel India towards a more modern and sustainable future.
