Blast Near Israeli Embassy In Delhi, All Staff Safe; Police Find Letter Addressed To Envoy

Delhi Police received a call claiming there was a "blast" near the Israeli embassy on Tuesday (26 December) evening.

A Delhi Police team, accompanied by the bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and crime team, arrived at the location.

Shortly after, forensic laboratory specialists also made their way to the scene.

A letter intended for the Israeli Ambassador was discovered by the police at a vacant lot, merely a few metres away from the embassy.

They also found a flag wrapped with the letter. The letter has been seized by the police.

Following an extensive investigation of the area, the teams gathered items to serve as evidence and forwarded them for forensic analysis.

Israel's deputy envoy Ohad Nakash Kaynar, in a video statement, said, "This evening, several minutes after 5 pm, an explosion occurred in close proximity with the embassy. All our workers are safe. Our diplomats are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with the local Delhi security."

Following the incident, security has been heightened at the Chabad House in the Paharganj district of central Delhi by the police. A security cordon has been created around the Jewish community center. The cops are monitoring the area through CCTV cameras.
