In a huge revelation, conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar has admitted to paying the currently jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Minister, Satyendra Jain, Rs 10 crore as “protection money” and Rs 50 crore to be inducted in the party in a senior position.

Chandrashekhar, who is currently in Mandoli jail, Delhi, is accused of cheating many people, including high-profile individuals such as former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh's wife Aditi Singh of Rs 200 crore.

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) had recently granted permission to Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for probing the role of 82 prison officials under the Prevention of Corruption Act, in the organised crime syndicate being run by conman Chandrasekhar from Rohini Jail.

The LG had also noted that the Prison Department was under the now-jailed AAP leader and Minister Satyendar Jain. Under him, it was marred with several serious controversies including the confiscation of mobile phones from prisoners.

In a letter addressed to the LG, Chandrasekhar claimed that he had known the AAP leader since 2015. He claims that he even paid Jain an amount of Rs 50 crore in exchange of getting appointed to a senior party position in southern India.

“After my arrest in 2017, I was lodged in Tihar Jail and was visited multiple times by Mr Satyendar Jain, who held the portfolio of jail minister... In 2019 again, I was visited by Jain, whose secretary asked me to pay Rs 2 crore every month as protection money and to get basic facilities inside the jail,” the hand-written letter to the LG reportedly read.

Satyendra Jain is a Minister in the Delhi cabinet holding several portfolios. Despite being in jail for several months, Jain continues to hold onto his ministership.
